The part of the novel that focused on Aiden and Erin was quite enjoyable, barring the mostly ridiculous beginning where he hacked his way into her line of sight looking like some kind of wild man from Borneo with a huge machete and who knows what else and was then surprised when she had the reaction that she did. On one hand I really enjoyed this book and on the other hand I also didn’t. She’s just starting to really enjoy her time with Aiden when someone shows up to ruin her new found happiness. For too long she’d focused solely on her career and she’s very good at what she does, but it hasn’t left much time for having a life. She’s learning how to live for herself again and getting involved with Aiden Riordan, now with the beard shaved off seems like a good way to kick start her life.

Her siblings are all settled now and Erin is feeling like a parent whose children have flown the coop. At 35, Erin has basically raised her younger sister and brother when they lost their mother at an extremely young age and then their father when Erin was only 19.

One time however she surprises him while he’s working and they start to actually talk and spend some time together. He does check on her several times though and takes it upon himself to help out in her garden, potting and seeding, watering and tending while Erin isn’t around. Erin, never shy about voicing her opinion, is dismissive of the ‘vagrant’ who bothered her and Aiden sees no real need to enlighten her that really he’s not a bum.

Somehow or other she trips, knocking herself out and Aiden uses her car to take her to Grace Valley hospital. When Erin, busy minding her own business and potting some plants sees Aiden hacking his way out of the scrub surrounding the cabin with a machete, bow and arrow over his shoulder, bearded like a wild man, she is understandably rather frightened and screams. She’s taken a couple of months off work and plans to spend some time at the cabin relaxing before Marcie delivers her first child in August. Previously introduced in #4, A Virgin River Christmas as Marcie’s protective older sister, she returns in this novel having paid to fix up Ian and Marcie’s cabin, turning into a luxurious holiday destination. Moonlight Road is the tenth novel in Robyn Carr’s Virgin River series – I’ve been churning through these quite quickly since I first started them back in May! This one deals with Aiden Riordan, brother to the previously-written-about Luke and Sean, who has taken his leave from the Navy as an OB and is having a bit of a break in Virgin River before looking around for a job.Įrin Foley is also having a break.
